Maria – PR, Lucky Group

What serves as a guiding principle in your company? How does that guiding principle integrate with our company vision, mission, and values?

In our view, success can and must be sustainable only through a strong set of values. We deeply respect femininity, transparency, we support models’ life choices, and constant care for employee’s well-being. We advocate freedom and mind openness, promote learning and reward performance and loyalty.

What are the most common mistakes that new business owners from our industry make?

Maybe they think it’s too easy, that the economics of this business is way too simple. But it’s not the case. You need to be serious, to have strong managerial skills and to respect people around you. It’s a long-term investment, not just a way for overnight success.

How do you plan for the future of your company?

We constantly improve our organization, invest in technology, recruit the best people available. Also, we have partnerships with the strongest companies in industry, like LiveJasmin, Flirt4Free and Adult Work, and we plan together for 3 or 4 years ahead.

How do you evaluate the past ups/downs of your company?

We navigated dire straits during the pandemic. It was quite tough, but we knew that everybody was in trouble at the time. We learned to adapt, to be agile, resilient and to bounce back. Now, we are in a better shape than before and we are confident about the future.

How do you stay on top of new technologies and trends of our industry?

We carefully analyze what makes sense for us. Some trends are just trends: they just come and go. In other cases, we embrace what’s new and meaningful for our business.

Is there any popular entrepreneurial advice that you agree/disagree with? Why?

They say you have to pay your people the minimum wage possible, in order to maximize your profit. We always had a different approach about this. We prefer to pay our colleagues above the market, as a sign of respect. Moreover, it’s a good tool of motivation, and the best way to say thank you for are doing such a good job day after day.

What are some hard choices you had to make to get where you are?

Letting people go is always difficult, at least for us. A few years ago, we realized we had to give up on an entire department, because it didn’t make sense business wise. We took the decision with a heavy heart, but it proved to be beneficial in the long term.

What is your favorite workplace tradition?

Opening a bottle of Mumm champagne for each year of studios’ history. This always makes us emotional.

Do you use rewards and trophies to motivate people?

Yes, it’s always nice to see our people proud of their achievements. Our meeting room is full of trophies from past years and they motivate us to be better at what we do.

How does your business compare to competitors in the market?

We really care about our people and our models. This matters the most. That’s why so many colleagues and experienced models are working with us for more than 5 years. Other than this, of course, we try to be the best on training, knowledge, interior design, financial offers and other benefits.

What changes have you made to your business strategy over the past few years?

We restarted our strategic partnership with LiveJasmin because we believe in their vision for this industry. Premium livechat is the way to go for us and we focus 100% on this direction. Also, because we have a very strong brand, we are looking to expand our business in other big cities from Romania.
