LCA – As we all know, the pandemic outbreak has affected severely various industry sectors, can you tell us what was the impact on your business and what challenges you met that you had to adapt to?

RICK: We saw a significant increase in models signing up, especially from Italy, where it tripled in daily new models. In a situation where a lot of people lost their jobs, many turned to camming. We offered double payouts to Italian models when the virus was still relatively contained. When production shut down in the US, we also doubled the payouts to pornstars switching from porn to camming.
We also saw considerable growth in traffic during the pandemic, with the US at the top of the list. Everyone was in need of that personal emotional connection during quarantine, but at the same time, people were concerned about making ends meet. For this reason and to lend a helping hand, we launched the ‘Free Date with a Model of Your Choice’ campaign, giving every new user enough free tokens to cover a 10-minute private session with a model.
From a professional perspective, it was a challenge to remain positive and interact with users as if nothing happened while the outside world seemed to be falling apart. Our models really went the extra mile, changing their regular schedules to adapt to users’ new online activity patterns. Despite the situation, they exceeded in spreading the good vibes and keeping users distracted from the COVID-19 reality, and we forever appreciate them for that!

LCA – With all the society being affected, what were the changes that you noticed in consumer behavior, employees and leadership aspects?

RICK: As previously mentioned, consumer-wise, we had a massive spike in traffic because people were trying to find new ways of entertainment and connection spending time at home.
It was complicated to adapt to all the new circumstances and implement all the safety measures regarding our employees. Still, we did it, and instead of seeing our employees’ motivation decrease, it was quite the opposite. Everyone was giving their best ad we launched many new innovative technologies and even hired a lot of new people.
In the leadership aspect, it was a challenge to manage all the teams working remotely; however, the results I just described to you indicate that we did pretty good.

LCA – While some businesses are struggling, some businesses are thriving, what is that special thing that differentiates your company from your competitors?

RICK: One of the main things that differentiate us from the rest is our love for new technologies and the way we implement them into our platform. Also, we implemented mobile streaming a long time ago so that models can stream straight from their browser without any apps and take their cam shows on the road. And this was just the beginning. We’re continually rolling out new features to take the interaction between models and users to the next level. Bots, built-in games, show recordings… you name it. Moreover, we work with artificial intelligence to learn what kind of content each user likes, and therefore have our algorithm deliver it to their doorstep. This way, we make sure that users find what they want and that models get the target audience they deserve. We recently welcomed our new user-level system, which was a huge revamp, but it really paid off. We see ourselves more like a community rather than just a cam platform, and in order to walk the talk, we launched a Timeline feature. This is like Facebook’s news feed, but with all the activity logs of models, they can also create their own posts. So users can see every update, like the posts, and even purchase content directly from the Timeline. We are heading in this direction now, so most of our efforts focus on being more social.
The other thing that makes Stripchat pretty distinctive is that we have our own quality traffic source that turns into economic stability for models. And of course, we cannot forget about all the passive income options we have available for models. One of the latest ones we released is a third-party messenger that we implemented on our site, with which they can charge users for sending them messages. On top of that, they also have Fan Clubs, a subscription service for loyal users; they pay a monthly fee to support their favorite models. In exchange, they get some exclusive content and other perks.

LCA – Is your company now engaging in new projects?

RICK: Our mission is to improve Stripchat, making it the most innovative and modern cam platform on the internet. For this reason, all the team and I prefer to focus on the current platform rather than develop new projects.

LCA – Our mission is to give back to the models who are the engine of this industry, could you name a few models that you collab with and had some remarkable results that your company is proud of?

RICK: It worth mentioning that we have our new community on Reddit (r/StripchatOfficial/), where all models are welcomed to post their content and chat with users. Moreover, our admins on Twitter (@stripchat) are always glad to promote our models when they contact them, so subscribe and ping them! We have recently onboarded our new brand ambassador, Lindsey Banks, and we’re extremely proud of this move because she brought a fresh spirit into the team and plenty of ideas for our social media competitions. Moreover, she’s always there to support our community, and that’s a huge help for our models. – Sara_fun brought dynamism and new concepts to the site, such as broadcasting by mobile while walking in the park or having a coffee at the terrace.
